An Update to me!

good evening everyone!

i hope all are well and what not.

i wanted to update everyone as to how i am fairing, for i know that while the dubs in my kingdumb hall do not care...you do!.

I also has a dog that could be described as "poorly" right now.

i was just reading sprout's topic on their poorly dog, and this comes at a time my dog seems to be having problems as well.

i have a french bulldog that's about five or six years old, and just yesterday he started acting strange.

he was trembling and shaking really bad, and i was worried at first.

I think you should take him in for a check up . Panting might indicate heart problems maybe diabetes . Something is not right .

I hope it is nothing serious .

At what point in time did you lose your confidence in yourself?

that's what the watchtower wants out of you!

your confidence in yourself.. one can be confident about one's profession, or what have you, and still lack ultimate confidence in one's self.. fairly recently i had a personal revelation and felt a connection with something greater than me.

as i headed out my driveway, after the morning it happened, to work i felt an overwhelming urge to call an elder in my old congregation.

My self confidence was slowly and painfully robbed from me from 5yrs of age until 44 yrs old . Anytime I began to show the slight bit of self confidence it was drilled into me this was a bad thing called PRIDE ,and that I should remember I was dirt . I grew up thinking I was a bad person because inside my head I wanted to be better ,I wanted to follow my own thoughts ......I wanted to excel at something ,but was told the only acceptable goal for me should be theocratic goals . Because I didn't desire those goals I must be a very bad person . For a very longtime I gave up my independent thinking and followed along with what I was told to do .....this is the sure reciepe for an unhappy life .

Being taught what to think instead of how to think is the greatest disservice to young people growing up JW.

Six yrs and counting on rebuilding a healthy self confidence .....

in my case, i was df, my nephew from bethel was in town,.

he came to visit my family.

he knock at the door, i answer.

My husband and I were siting at a Sunday morning meeting . I was looking around during the public talk at all the sullen faces and thought to myself " Do i really want to live forever with these people ?" I also took a good look at my husband as he blankly stared at the speaker ....he was not happy either ,but going through all the motions to keep in the good graces of the powers that be ....That is when I leaned over and asked , 'if he would rather be at home ,because I really want to go home ..' Once we got home I told him I was never going back again .

Many events led up to this point over many ,many years . At this point it just felt like I could not possibly survive one more moment in that place ,and still remain sane . My husband was quite shocked ,and at first thought I was leaving him . After a few tense days I was able to explain enough to him that my unhappiness was with the religion not him . Thankfully he decided not to go back either ,and over the past few years has come to see the manipulating nature of the JW's for himself .

It was the scariest decision I have ever made ,and clearly one of the BEST . I felt like I was jumping off a burning bridge ...not sure if I would survive the fall or be able to swim once I hit the water,but I knew if I didn't try I would surely die if i just kept standing there .

One of my biggest concerns was what would my kids and husband do ?? Would they shun me or hate me for distrupting the only life we all knew ? I had to squash those fearful thoughts and just made the decision FOR MY OWN HAPPINESS and sanity .....Thankfully it has worked out well . My husband faded with me . Gradually all of our three children have faded on their own and for their own reasons .

We have had some ups and downs along the way just like everyone else here . We also have JW relatives that now have disowned us ,but as far as I am concerned.......,Take the plunge " Come on In the water is fine ! "

Governing Body Worship

i was recently invited to join some friends for a meal.

they had a family member visiting from out-of-town who was older, and knows personally a few of the governing body members.

this individual went on about how wonderful those men are, and how happy they are to be led by the gb.. it was mentioned how telling it was that they have not been filling empty spots on the governing body, and how that the men now serving on that body were "just like us" - that one of them had been divorced (i did not know this), one of them was a vet from 'nam (i think i had heard this), and that one of them had several children, etc.

I ran into a Witness from our old hall, and he told me his new baby boy was named after one of the GB members !!?? He said if the GB is good enough for Jesus why not good enough to name your child after them ......I was seriously speechless

My neice claims she knows the solution to cancer and growing old ....

help i think my eyes balls are stuck after they rolled so hard when i read her facebook post .. she commented on a mutual friends post .

the other person was stating how she didn't understand pythagorean theorem ,but would be sure to put it on her to do list along with curing cancer (she is a biology student ).......that is when my neice posted, " i know the solution to cancer and aging but not so sure about the pythagoren theorem.......".

This is the same neice that has cut me out of her life for the past four years because her love of Jehovah is in her heart ,and I am bad association because I no longer worship a publishing company .

I am behaving and NOT posting a sarcastic reply ......it is hard ,but I am being good .....Instead I am posting it here were all of you can entertain me with your own responses

How do you reason with them?

recently my brother-in-law posted a link to a story on facebook: "we're seeing rev 17:12,13 starting to be fulfilled!!

The only person you have any chance of reasoning with is maybe your daughter . It is your duty to start building in her a reasoning mind . Teach her critical thinking skills now so she will not grow up completely brainwashed by the JW's.

Other than that you can't reason with those that refuse to reason.

Feelings of Impending Doom!

i ask you all: what does the life of a child look like while he/she attempts to cope with recurrent feelings of impending doom?.

I would like to hear how others dealt with the feelings of doom growing up JW .....

I also unwittingly raised my own children as JW and I recall one night my 8 yr old son waking from a dream crying "But I don't want to die at Armaggedon !".......what child has those kinds of nightmares other than witness kids ??

Are Christian kids as terrified of Hell as Witness kids are of Armaggedon ??
